KBR gains U.S. base services award

Dec. 20, 2012 at 8:28 AM

HOUSTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Camp Lemonnier, the U.S. military facility in Djibouti is to receive base operation support services from Texas company KBR.

KBR said its services cover public safety, air operations, facility support, vehicle maintenance and environmental services. Supply operations, housing, utilities, laundry, food and recreation services will also be provided.

"KBR having such a long history at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti makes this award especially exciting and rewarding," said KBR's Rich Ambrose, president, North American Government and Logistic. "We look forward to working with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic, the contracting agency."

The contract, worth an overall $127 million, is a firm-fixed price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity vehicle. It has a performance period of four years -- a one base year and three one-year options.

KRB said the award also covers base operations support services at the U.S. military installation at Manda Bay, Kenya, but gave no details.
