EAST AURORA, N.Y., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Embraer Defense and Security of Brazil has added a U.S. supplier to its production program for KC-390 military transport/tanker.
New York's Astronics Corp. announced its subsidiary, Luminescent Systems Inc., will supply the aircraft's exterior lighting system, which will include navigation, anti-collision, landing, taxi, aerial refueling and formation lights.
"Astronics has a long history as an Embraer supplier, including providing the exterior lighting system for the Phenom family of business jets," said Peter J. Gundermann, Astronics' president and chief executive officer.
"The KC-390 selection serves to both enhance that relationship and builds on our industry leading position of supplying best in class exterior lighting solutions for the military and commercial aerospace market."
The KC-390 is a medium-sized, twin-engine tactical transport being built for the Brazilian military. It has a payload of 23.6 tons and a range of 2,600 nautical miles. It is expected to enter service in 2016.
