ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- The Czech Republic has entered an agreement to help Pakistan's ordnance factories upgrades.
POF Chairman Lt. Gen. Muhammad Ahsan Mahmood announced the signing a memorandum of understanding at the 14th National Security Workshop at the National Defense University in Islamabad.
Mahmood also said, as per the agreement, the production capacity of Brass Mill POF would be increased from 7,000 to 24,000 metric tons, the Pakistan Observer reported Thursday.
The MoU between Czech firm Vitkovic and POF Wah Brass Mill Pvt. Ltd. is designed to improve the military quality of the factory's brass products.
Wah Brass Mill Managing Director Khalid Pervaiz signed the memorandum on behalf of the POF while Vitkovic Chief Executive Officer Maj. Gen. Josef Dofuk initialed the agreement on behalf of his firm.
Underlining the importance of the agreement, Czech Republic Ambassador Miroslav Krenek and Czech defense attache Col. Stanislave Tesarek participated in the signing ceremony.
The POF website states, "Pakistan Ordnance Factories is the largest defense industrial complex under the ministry of defense production, producing conventional arms and ammunition to international standards."
