ST. LOUIS, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Boeing announced it will maintain training devices for U.S. Navy aircrews under a five-year, $56 million contract.

The training devices will be for crews of six different types of aircraft – P-3Cs, EP-3s, P-8As, EA-6Bs, EA-18Gs and SH-60Bs. The devices are at various facilities in Florida, Hawaii and Washington. Training devices used by the Navy in Japan are covered by the award.

Boeing said the award sets the stage for the company developing a trainer maintenance business.

"This addition to our portfolio is strategically important as we bolster our maritime patrol trainer maintenance business, especially internationally," said Mark McGraw, Boeing vice president for Training Systems and Government Services.

Under a separate U.S. Navy contract, Boeing will deliver training systems for its P-8A maritime surveillance aircraft to U.S. Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., next year and to other locations as the aircraft moves into full-rate production.
