Jacobs Engineering wins $30M Navy contract

PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Jacobs Engineering is providing commissioning design and engineering services for U.S. Navy shore facilities.

The work, under a three-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, will be performed specifically for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic.

"We are delighted to receive this contract award and are committed to continuing our support of NAVFAC's energy management and conservation initiatives at Navy and Marine Corps installations," the company said.

Under the contract, Jacobs will provide NAVFAC with commissioning, re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, total/whole building commissioning -- plus fundamental and enhanced commissioning -- in anticipation of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design credits from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The projects would be along the U.S. East Coast.

Jacobs said it has received its first task order: developing LEED fundamental and enhanced commissioning requirements to be included in NAVFAC MIDLANT's Request for Proposal for an in-house, design-build project for the regimental headquarters and bachelor enlisted quarters at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Va.

Jacobs said the three-year award has a maximum value of $30 million.
