
QUEBEC CITY, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- North America has its first official Thales Research and Technology center for the creation and transfer of advanced technologies.
The center is in Quebec City and was formerly a Thales Canada research and development facility.
"Thales has grown its research business in Quebec City over the past decade to become the major defense and security technology company in this region and this success and the richness of the Quebec City R&D community is being recognized by Thales Group with the creation of Thales Research and Technology Canada," said Paul Kahn, president and chief executive officer of Thales Canada."
Thales Research and Technology Canada will concentrate on research for cybersecurity; information fusion with smart networks and sensors; intelligence; cognitive engineering; social network analysis; optimization of algorithms; mobile platforming; modeling and simulation.
The center will also foster the collaboration of academia in industry-driven projects, Thales Canada said.
Thales Canada is a subsidiary of the Thales Group, which has headquarters in France.
