Sisu delivers armored truck to Estonia

KARJAA, Finland, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Finnish vehicle manufacturer Sisu Defense Oy has delivered its first armored 8x8 truck to the Estonian air force.

The truck will be used as a radar carrier for the Ground Master air surveillance system supplied to the Estonian Ministry of Defense by Thales-Raytheon Systems Co. of France.

Sisu Defense said the vehicle delivered this month features an integrated hydraulic stabilizer with automatic controls that ensures the radar remains level when the vehicle is on an uneven surface or incline.

Sisu Defense didn't indicate the number of 8x8 vehicles it is to deliver to Estonia or other details of the contract. The company said, however, indicated it is supplying an undisclosed number of 4x4 trucks to be used as ancillary vehicles for the Ground Master air surveillance system.

Sisu trucks are in service with Finnish and Lithuanian forces and function as radar carrier vehicles, missile launch vehicles, cargo transporters and recovery vehicles.
