RICHMOND, British Columbia, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Canada's MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. and U.S. firm DigitalGlobe are to provide commercial satellite imagery to the U.S. Air Force.

Under a contract, two Air Force mobile ground stations, part of the Eagle Vision program, will be able to receive and process imagery from DigitalGlobe's WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 satellites.

The imagery, MDA said, will bolster the Air Force's ability to provide near real-time, in-theater access to essential image data.

MDA didn't disclose the precise monetary value of the project but said it was a multimillion-dollar deal.

MDA has provided multi-sensor solutions to the Air Force, including access to data from Canada's RADARSAT-2 Earth observation satellite and images from the RapidEye satellite.

The Air Force's Eagle Vision program is a system of five deployable ground stations that collect and process data from commercial satellites in support of homeland disaster relief missions and in-theater operations.
