HENGELO, Netherlands, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Thales Netherlands is touting the performance of its various warfare, navigation and communications systems aboard a new Moroccan frigate.

The Sigma class frigate, built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, recently completed Sea Acceptance Trials.

Thales equipment on the ship include the Tacticos Combat Management System, the first CMS in the world to have been successfully teamed with the MBDA VL MICA missile system.

Other Thales equipment aboard the ship: the SMART-S Mk2 surveillance radar; the LIROD Mk2 fire control radar; target designation sights; the UMS 4132 KINGKLIP hull-mounted sonar system; the TUUM-4 underwater telephone; an electronic warfare suite that integrates the company's ESM Vigile 100 S and ECM Scorpion 2L systems; an integrated navigation system; and an integrated communication system.

All Thales systems on the ship performed "flawlessly," the company said.

"This SAT demonstrates that our vast experience in sensor technology and combat system integration enables us to realize such a complex program within the time frame agreed upon," said Gerben Edelijn, chief executive officer of Thales Netherlands. "This program reinforces our relationship with the Royal Moroccan Navy as well with Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding."
