Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty
MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A $50.5 million delivery order under a U.S. Army program has been given to the Harris Corp. for advanced satellite communications terminals.
The terminals will replace as many as 80 AN/GSC-52, AN/GSC-39, AN/FSC-78 and other aging strategic satellite communications terminals with new X-band or simultaneous X-/Ka-band terminals.
Harris said the Modernization of Enterprise Terminals delivery award includes field activities, such as site preparation, installation and testing.
"The MET program has successfully completed all required testing for SATCOM Certification of this new generation of strategic, multiband terminals, which provide critical reach-back capability for soldiers in the field," said Bill Gattle, vice president, Aerospace Systems, Harris Government Communications Systems. "The MET terminal provides the warfighter with high performance, cost-effective solutions for their MILSATCOM needs."
Harris is the prime contractor for the MET award, which is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle with a potential value of $600 million. Since 2009, Harris has received more than$260 million in delivery orders.
