The EW equipment to be upgraded and reintegrated includes Terma's ALQ-213 electronic warfare management system, tactical threat displays, tactical data unit and pods integrated with advanced countermeasure dispensers and missile-warning sensors.

The upgrades will be completed by the end of 2013, Terma said.

The Danish air force flies 14 AW-101 helicopters for search-and-rescue operations and troop transport. The aircraft has a cruise speed of 167 miles per hour, a range of 863 miles and a mission endurance of 5 hours.

The aircraft was developed as a joint venture between Agusta helicopters and Westland helicopters, which merged after the helicopter became operational.

Terma announced the contract at the Euronaval exhibition in Paris.
