FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Background checks on employees and contractor workers of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be performed by CSC under a $54 million task order.

The task order, through a U.S. General Services Administration Schedule 738X contract that CSC won in 2002, has a one-year period of performance with four one-year options.

"Our work in support of this task order enables Immigration and Customs Enforcement to operate with increased efficiency and greater visibility as we securely conduct background investigations," said Patrick Schambach, vice president and general manager of CSC's Homeland Security and Law Enforcement Division.

"By leveraging our proven expertise in investigative methods, we will support the agency's efforts to uphold its standards of integrity and professionalism in hiring only the most qualified applicants."

Under the task order, CSC will conduct background investigations and deliver investigation reports on federal and contractor applicants and also prepare reinvestigation reports.

The company's Web-based case management application will manage workflow and assignments, store related documents and provide ICE with real-time access to status of cases.
