Navy picks Engility for EOD support

CHANTILLY, Va., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has selected Engility Holdings Inc. to provide information technology and assurance personnel and services for explosive ordnance disposal.

The personnel and services will specifically assist the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, which develops and provides equipment and render-safe procedures for Joint-Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal forces around the world.

EOD is a critical component of the U.S. counter-improvised explosive device efforts.

"We are very proud to have the opportunity to work with the U.S. Navy in support of this national defense mission," said Tony Smeraglinolo, president and chief executive officer of Engility. "Our highly-skilled professionals are committed to working closely with NAVEODTECHDIV in its mission to support our EOD warfighters.

"As a new, stand-alone company, this is an important achievement in Engility's vision to be the best government services provider."

The competitively awarded contract carries a three-year value of $21 million if all contract options are exercised.

Engility Holdings was once part of L-3 Communications.
