"Our plan is to grow a significant engineering capability in Adelaide to service the Australian Defense forces and ultimately the larger Asian market," said Adrian Smith, the new company's managing director.

Simulation technologies and services to be offered will be for land, naval and air forces.

"Rheinmetall is one of the largest defense companies in the world and it is a coup for South Australia that they have decided to grow their business in our state," South Australian Minister for Defense Industries Jack Snelling said.

"The South Australian government is committed to continuing to grow our defense industries and looks forward to a prosperous relationship with Rheinmetall in South Australia."
