SAIC continues CDP training

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Training in the delivery of emergency response services will continue to be provided to the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency by SAIC.

The single-award, award-fee and fixed-price contract from FEMA is worth $52 million and is to directly support FEMA's Center for Domestic Preparedness. It has a one-year base performance period and four one-year options.

Science Applications International Corp. has performed the service for the CDP in the past.

"The training provided by the Center for Domestic Preparedness is critical to the readiness of our response community to successfully manage emergencies," said JT Grumski, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We are very pleased that SAIC has been given the opportunity by FEMA to continue supporting this important mission."

The CDP identifies, develops, tests and delivers training to state, local and tribal emergency response providers and also provides on-site and mobile training at the performance, management and planning levels.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide training delivery services in areas such as chemical, ordnance, biological and radiological training instruction; instructor selection, training, certification and sustainment; equipment management and logistical support.
