BAE Systems Land Systems and the International Golden Group cooperated last year in obtaining an Emirates' contract for RG31 Agrab Mk2 Mobile Mortar Platform mine-protected vehicles and the new agreement will strengthen and build the relationship already established, they said.
"The Middle East is an important region for us and working with local industry and assisting the U.A.E. defense industry to grow, is our goal," said Johan Steyn, managing director, Land Systems South Africa.
"We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship, serving the U.A.E. and other customers to ensure safety and security for their soldiers."
International Golden Group is a private joint stock company that obtains and supplies advanced technology-driven solutions to the Emirates' security and defense organizations.
It also provides in-service support for products within the United Arab Emirates and Persian Gulf region.
"We have worked with BAE Systems' Land Systems South Africa business for many years as a prime contractor for, most recently, the MMP contract," said IGG Chief Executive Officer Fadel Al Kaabi. "We are looking forward to a long and successful future providing combat proven mine and armored protected systems to forces in the Middle East."
