MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy's Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems Division is to receive program management and engineering support services from SAIC.

The task order, awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command is for one year of performance with two one-year options. It is a single-award, cost-plus-fixed fee vehicle with a potential value of $48 million.

The Navy's ATC&LS Division, under the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, helps the fleet identify and track targets in combat and air traffic control environments.

Under this contract, SAIC will provide technical and management support services to support ATC&LS Division's research, design, development, training and logistic support. Included services are technology assessment; system engineering; system performance analyses; system test and evaluation support; system level procurement package development; training; and operational site maintenance.

"This is one of our longest running contracts in the Patuxent River area," said Jim Thigpen, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to continuing to work with ATC&LS to provide new technologies and services that will ultimately improve electronic systems in air traffic control and landing systems."
