Russian Helicopters, CAE explore business

MOSCOW, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Russian Helicopters and CAE of Canada plan to jointly explore development of flight simulators and pilot training programs.

The simulators and programs would be for use by students at Russia's Helicopter Academy, which was established in the Moscow region this spring.

The companies, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding this week, are considering the use of CAE's simulators and training facilities to train pilots and mechanics for Russian helicopter operators and creation of training centers in Russia and other countries.

"The scope of the agreement offers numerous potential benefits for both sides," Russian Helicopters, part of state defense holding company Oboronprom, said.

"Russian Helicopters may gain access to a range of CAE's technologies, and the opportunity to make use of the Canadian company's extensive network of training centers to train operators of Russian helicopters around the world.

"CAE will in turn have the opportunity to promote its products on the global market for Russian-built helicopters."

The companies signed their MOU at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2012, which ends Sunday.
