CPI producing gunner windows for UH-60s

EDGEWOOD, N.Y., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Gunner window assemblies for Sikorsky Aircraft's UH-60 Black Hawk military helicopters are to be produced by CPI Aerostructures.

CPI said the agreement with Sikorsky is for five years. No monetary value for the contract, however, was disclosed. The projected number of assemblies to be provided wasn't given.

Deliveries of the assemblies are expected to begin next year and be completed in 2018, CPI said.

Gunner windows -- a two-piece assembly -- on the Black Hawk are positioned behind the pilot seat on each side of the aircraft and slide open or close as needed.

The Black Hawk is a multi-mission aircraft used for troop transport, medical evacuation, electronic warfare, attack, assault support and special operations.

CPI Aerostructures said that with the Sikorsky contract the company has chalked up $63.8 million in new business through Sept. 10, compared to $61.7 million through Sept. 10, 2011.
