General Dynamics buys OK Labs

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- General Dynamics reports it has expanded its capabilities to provide secure mobile devices through the acquisition of Open Kernel Labs Inc.

OK Labs is a provider of virtualization software for securing wireless communications, applications and content for mobile devices. It is also involved with in-vehicle infotainment systems.

"Government and corporate CIOs want the advantages of today's commercial mobile devices without having to sacrifice the integrity and security of their networks," said Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics C4 Systems. "OK Labs' market-leading expertise in implementing security on commercial devices delivers ease of use and reduced cost to customers."

General Dynamics said defense-grade solutions from OK Labs for commercial devices allows for secure separation of corporate data and applications from a user's personal data on a device.

The acquisition was a cash transaction but no details were provided.

OK Labs will become part of General Dynamics Broadband subsidiary, part of General Dynamics C4 Systems.
