SCHROBENHAUSEN, Germany, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- MBDA's missile systems manufacturing operation in Germany has opened a new simulation and integration center for air defense systems.
The facility is at the company's main campus at Schrobenhausen and is 43,000 square feet.
MBDA said its investment in the new facility for systems integration and simulation, as well as overall improvements to the Schrobenhausen operation, was more than $74 million.
"The competencies that our company has acquired in the air and missile defense sector over the past five decades makes us a technology and systems leader in Germany," said MBDA Managing Director Thomas Homberg.
"It is orders for program like MEADS, Patriot, Stinger, Roland and Gepard -- not to mention RAM and ESSM -- that have enabled us to compile such unique know-how. We are willing to provide our competencies for future German and European air defense program. This will also be supported by our new simulation and integrations center."
MBDA Germany develops, manufactures and provides customer and product support for guided missile systems and subsystems. Its parent company is owned by BAE Systems, EADS and Finmeccanica.
