The framework agreement with Kongsberg includes system support and technical engineering for the Army's M153 Crows Remote Weapon Stations program and is worth as much as $970 million.
M153 Crows is the primary remote weapon station used by U.S. forces. Kongsberg, under a previous Crows contract, has delivered more than 10,000 units to the U.S. military.
"Kongsberg is very proud to have been selected as the supplier for the next phase of the Crows program," said Walter Qvam, chief executive officer of Kongsberg Gruppen. "We have produced and delivered Protector RWS systems for over a decade and this new contract reflects the U.S. Army's confidence in the ability of Kongsberg to provide high quality systems, services and solutions."
Kongsberg said it has received the first order -- valued at $9.1 million -- under the agreement.
