SYDNEY, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Thales Australia reports it has been appointed a regional representative of U.S. company General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems.
The arrangement cover General Dynamics' ammunition products in New Zealand as well as Australia and follows a teaming agreement between the companies last year to transfer technology and expertise for delivering improved ammunition offerings to the Australian Defense Force.
"Appointing Thales Australia as our representative in the region will provide an enhanced and more integrated approach to supporting the ammunition requirements of the Australian Defense Force," said Mike Wilson, president of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems.
Thales noted that it is in the process of streamlining its manufacturing processes in the country for various products to meet savings targets specified under the Department of Defense's Strategic Reform Program.
"We are very pleased to strengthen our relationship with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems-- one of the world's leading suppliers of explosive ordnance -- and look forward to collaborating on market opportunities now and in the future," Thales Australia Chief Executive Officer Chris Jenkins said.
