MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic tapped SAIC for support services for the Navy's anti-terrorism/force protection systems.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract given the company and six others by SSC Atlantic is for one year, with four one-year options. The contract's total value is about $224 million.

"We look forward to providing SSC Atlantic with world-class physical security and force protection capabilities where security is of high or vital interest," said John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.

Under the contract, SAIC will compete for task orders to provide security and engineering support services. Work areas covered include engineering, analysis, development, acquisition, integration, installation, testing, software development and maintenance and integrated logistical support.

SAIC's work will be primarily conducted in the National Capital region.

SSC Atlantic is involved in the development, acquisition, and life-cycle support of integrated command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, information technology and space capabilities.
