SPARTANBURG, S.C., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. company Integrated Biometrics has unveiled what is billed as the world's smallest and fastest mobile fingerprint scanner with FBI certification.
Integrated Biometrics, a manufacturer of fingerprint biometric technologies, said its new product -- Watson-Mini -- weighs less than 3 ounces and measures about 2.4x2.36x1.33 inches.
The FBI has certified that the non-optical Watson-Mini meets or exceeds all requirements listed in EBTS Appendix F Mobile ID SAP 45 as well as PIV-071006 of the FBI IAFIS Image Quality Specifications.
"Watson-Mini offers unique operational benefits compared to existing certified scanners, including high-quality imaging in dirty environments, no difficulty operating in direct sunlight, does not use a membrane and does not require latent prints to be wiped from the sensor surface," the company said.
"It can be used for both enrollment and verification in single, multiple, or roll finger print applications" and can be embedded in computer hardware or it can be connected to a computer using a USB.
