LYSTRUP, Denmark, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Danish aerospace and defense company Terma A/S is seeking to work with Sikorsky Aircraft of the U.S. company's helicopter programs.

Negotiations on integrating Terma systems into S-70i Black Hawks, S-92s and S-76 aircraft have begun, Terma said, but "the scope of work is contingent on the Danish government's decision to procure Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.

The Seahawks would be obtained through the U.S. government's Foreign Military Sales program.

Denmark is considering the U.S. Navy's MH-60R helicopter as part of it program to upgrade its maritime helicopter fleet for homeland defense and search-and-rescue missions.

Negotiations between Terma and Sikorsky are a result of two memorandums of understanding to meet Denmark's offset provisions if Sikorsky is chosen for the modernization program.

"Terma has a tremendous track record developing and integrating electronic warfare and counter-measures systems that protect helicopters from guided missile threats," said Robert Kokorda, Sikorsky's Sales and Marketing vice president.

"Our discussions center around offering Terma's ALQ-213 controller and counter-measures capability as an option for helicopters we sell internationally, specifically the S-70i utility helicopter we make in Poland for militaries around the world, and the commercial S-92 and S-76 helicopters used for VVIP transport."
