Harris hosting MILCOM 2012

MELBOURNE, Fla., Aug. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. communications company Harris Corp. is hosting year's premier international conference and exposition for military communications.

MILCOM 2012 is to take place in Orlando, Fla., from Oct. 29-Nov. 1, with hundreds of unclassified and classified technical presentations, tutorials and panel discussions on such topics as command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technologies.

Among the main speakers are: U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Susan Lawrence, U.S. Army chief information officer; Chris Inglis, deputy director of the National Security Agency; former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush; Mark Kelly, astronaut and retired U.S. Navy captain; and Bill Brown, Harris Corp's president and chief executive officer.

"MILCOM brings together leaders from government, military, academia and industry from around the world to address the critical role communications plays in military readiness and operations," said Wes Covell, executive chairman of MILCOM 2012 and vice president and general manager of Growth Programs, Harris Government Communications Systems.

"In the MILCOM tradition, we anticipate an outstanding series of technical presentations, discussions and tutorials, as well as nearly 50,000 square feet of industry exhibits."

The Armed Forces and Communications Electronics Association International and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society are co-sponsors of the event.
