SHELTON, Conn., July 19 (UPI) -- Sikorsky Aircraft's Australian subsidiary is to provide logistics and engineering support for Black Hawk and SeaHawk helicopters of the Australian military.

The agreement with the Australian Defense Force is for four years and carries a value of more than $120 million. The award is a follow-on to an expiring 8-year deal.

Sikorsky Aircraft Australia Ltd. does business as under the name of Sikorsky Helitech and has headquarters in Brisbane, Queensland.

"Brisbane is emerging as the hub for helicopter and aviation maintenance in Australia, and we remain committed to servicing the rotary support needs of our armed forces," said George Cheetham, managing director of Sikorsky Helitech.

"For the last 25 years, Sikorsky's Black Hawk and SeaHawk helicopters have played a crucial role as part of the ADF. Our ability to offer in-country OEM expertise will further improve the operational readiness of the fleet and enhance our government's ability to successfully execute a variety of key missions."

The contract is performance-based to hold down costs. Under it, Sikorsky will provide repair and overhaul management services and customer service support, such as maintenance and logistics management.
