ATM mission planning system introduced

LEESBURG, Va., July 2 (UPI) -- Mission planning and validation time for UAV operations have been shortened by a new system from a Virginia-based air traffic management company.

Mosaic ATM Inc. said its Rapid Automated Mission Planning System, which includes a 3-D visualization feature, is an automated mission planning product that enables unmanned aerial vehicles to avoid air traffic, population area and weather hazards. It also re-evaluates routes in flight and can input route variations for improved safety.

"Review by aviation authorities has received a strong positive response," said Chris Brinton, Mosaic ATM president. "RAMPS will be a safety discriminator for UAS Center offerers."

Additional details of the Rapid Automated Mission Planning System were not disclosed.

Mosaic ATM Inc., a technology company serving defense and aviation industries, counts the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, NASA and Department of Defense among its clients. It was formed in 2004 "to improve the efficiency and safety of air transportation and to advance the science and application of unmanned aircraft systems."
