ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., June 25 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman will begin delivering LITENING G4 targeting pod systems to Denmark for use on its F-16 fighter aircraft.

The LITENING G4 Advanced Targeting Pod includes true 1Kx1K forward-looking infrared and charge-coupled device sensors, short- wave infrared laser imaging sensor, color symbology, tracker improvements and enhanced zoom capabilities for more accurate target identification and location at longer ranges.

The contract for the pods came from the Danish Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization but the number of LITENING G4s to be delivered and the value of the contract weren't disclosed.

"This award, following a rigorous competitive selection process, is yet another vote of confidence from the international aviation community in the advanced technology of the LITENING G4 targeting system," said Jim Mocarski, vice president of Northrop Grumman's electro-optical/infrared business unit.

Other countries using the LITENING family of targeting pods include Australia, the Netherlands, Finland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Israel.

Northrop Grumman said it would begin delivering the systems in August of next year.
