LONG BEACH, Calif., June 21 (UPI) -- Boeing has delivered the sixth and last C-17 Globemaster III to the United Arab Emirates air force and air defense under a 2010 contract.

The delivery of the airlifter to representatives of the Persian Gulf state took place at the company's final assembly facility in California.

"After every delivery, U.A.E. C-17s fly into action, conducting humanitarian airlift and disaster-response missions and life-saving aeromedical evacuation," said Bob Ciesla, Boeing vice president, Airlift, and C-17 program manager.

"We're proud to deliver another C-17 that strengthens the U.A.E. air force and air defense's range and ability to perform critical airlift missions around the globe."

Boeing reported that the first four C-17s ordered were delivered to the United Arab Emirates last year. The fifth aircraft was delivered in May.

The C-17 Globemaster III has a payload of 164,900 pounds, a range of 2,400 nautical miles and takeoff and land on airstrips measuring 3,000 feet or less.
