"With less than 1 percent of all cleared contractors selected to receive this award annually, Ball Aerospace has joined a very elite group," said Rob Strain, chief operating officer of Ball Aerospace. "This award recognizes Ball's commitment to protecting our warfighter at home and abroad."

To win the award, a nominated company must have first earned two superior practices rating reviews and must have shown sustained excellence in security program management, implementation and oversight.

Out of more than 13,000 defense contractors in the United States only 26 security cleared firms won the award this year, which is given in honor of the first head of the U.S. Department of Defense's unified Office of Industrial Security.

Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp. develops and manufactures spacecraft, advanced instruments and sensors, components, data exploitation systems and RF systems.
