PARIS, June 14 (UPI) -- Rockwell Collins Australia is to provide Australia's military with digital terminal control systems under a contract worth nearly $68 million.

The DTCS and its software enable more accurate target identification and are used by Special Forces and artillery forward observers.

"We're delivering a user-focused, customized solution that provides the Australian Defense Force with an accurate, combat proven system for air and ground targeting," said Nick Gibbs, managing director of Rockwell Collins Australia.

Rockwell Collins said it is delivering a system based on its FireStorm product. It is a lightweight, fully integrated, configurable suite of hardware and software and includes a tablet PC, laser range finder, laser target designator, real-time video downlink receiver and a radio.

Also included is the company's GPS receiver.

A total of 152 systems, customized to Australian requirements will be delivered.

The award is part of Australia's Project Land 17 mission system program for joint fires artillery command-and-control systems, indirect fire system delivery platforms and other indirect fire system elements.
