The DTCS and its software enable more accurate target identification and are used by Special Forces and artillery forward observers.

Rockwell Collins said it is delivering a system based on its FireStorm product. It is a lightweight, fully integrated, configurable suite of hardware and software and includes a tablet PC, laser range finder, laser target designator, real-time video downlink receiver and a radio.
Also included is the company's GPS receiver.
A total of 152 systems, customized to Australian requirements will be delivered.
The award is part of Australia's Project Land 17 mission system program for joint fires artillery command-and-control systems, indirect fire system delivery platforms and other indirect fire system elements.
