
MCLEAN, Va., June 12 (UPI) -- QinetiQ North America has won a prime position on a U.S. Department of Homeland Security contract for tactical communication systems.
Under the Tactical Communications and Services contract, QinetiQ will be eligible to provide Land Mobile Radio and Voice over Internet Protocol network maintenance and support to the department, 22 of its directorates and other federal entities.
"QinetiQ North America has deep domain expertise in tactical communications solutions and extensive experience supporting the mission-critical needs of (Homeland Security)," said John Sutton, executive vice president and general manager of QinetiQ North America's Mission and Information Solutions business unit.
"We look forward to meeting the mission-critical tactical communications requirements of (the department) as they expand their communications capabilities across the country."
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a total value of $3 billion. Its base performance period is two years and there are three one-year options.
QinetiQ North America is one of 11 primes in the Operations and Maintenance Services Unrestricted category of the award.
