Rolls opens facility for C-130J engines

INDIANAPOLIS, June 11 (UPI) -- Rolls-Royce has opened a center at facility in Indianapolis for delivery of engines used on U.S. military aircraft, especially the C-130J.

The Customer Delivery Center will enhance deliveries of AE 2100 engines and features production enhancements such as automated inspection and electronic tool control.

"The new Customer Delivery Center represents yet another investment in our manufacturing operations as we keep a laser focus on improving efficiency and maintaining our ability to compete in the marketplace," said John Gallo, Rolls-Royce, executive vice president, Business Operations.

"We have designed the Customer Delivery Center to include best practices and efficiencies that will benefit all AE engine production."

Rolls-Royce said more than $1 million was invested in the center, which is in Rolls-Royce's primary manufacturing facility.

The AE 2100 is part of the Rolls-Royce AE engine family and shares a common core and more than 80 percent commonality with others in the product line, such as the AE 1107C used on the V-22 Osprey and the AE 3007H, which powers the Global Hawk unmanned aerial systems.
