MELBOURNE, Fla., June 8 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health has contracted the Harris Corp. to provide a communications system for public safety.
The system, which will feature secure and integrated voice and data communications in support of emergency medical services, would be used in western Saudi Arabia.
"Harris is providing the Ministry of Health with a proven system that will deliver high-performance communications to personnel engaged in routine or urgent emergency medical service calls,'' said Steve Marschilok, president, Public Safety and Professional Communications, Harris RF Communications.
"We are leveraging our mission-critical communications expertise to deliver powerful capabilities that are flexible and expandable to support the ministry's growing requirements in the future."
Harris said the system to be provided is its P25 system, which utilizes the Harris VIDA network, a unified Internet protocol-based communications network that delivers full IP management features.
The deal, worth $8 million, includes mobile and portable radios, including the M7300 mobile radio and the P5500 single-band portable radio.
