EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Coast Guard's command-and-control systems are to receive engineering support from California's Wyle under a $1.5 million contract.

"Wyle teams are extremely knowledgeable about command-and-control acquisitions, having previously analyzed and reported on them for the U.S. Coast Guard," said Denise Canter, Wyle's systems analysis and integration sector manager.

"This award enables us to perform the next logical step of improving the effectiveness of the C4ISR systems."

Wyle's said its research, development and analysis under the contract will ensure new Coast Guard assets meet operational demands. It will also develop a baseline for life cycle sustainment for existing sea and air assets and paving the way for acquisition of new ones.

Under a previous contract, Wyle analyzed methods to meet the Coast Guard's C4ISR systems mission requirements by evaluating design concepts, specification requirements and other metrics.

The work will allow the Coast Guard to "achieve a configuration baseline for the National Security Cutter, long- and medium-range surveillance systems and future acquisition projects while leveraging the commonalities of existing platforms," Wyle said.
