British extend engine servicing contracts

LONDON, May 29 (UPI) -- Under extensions to existing contracts from Britain's air force, Rolls-Royce will continue to provide support services for transport and tanker aircraft.

Engine support will specifically continue for the British air force's C-130 Hercules and VC10 tankers.

Under the first extension -- to the Hercules Integrated Operational Support contract -- services for the C-130s will continue until 2015. Comprehensive servicing of AE 2100D3 engines of the C-130 and T56 engines on the C-130E will be conducted by Rolls-Royce teams in the Britain and in Indianapolis.

"This contract amendment is testimony to the standard of service delivered to-date and reflects the value we offer to our customer," said Paul Craig, Rolls-Royce, executive vice president of Services-Defense. "We take pride in supporting the Royal Air Force's fleet of C-130s and in our successful partnership with Lockheed Martin, Marshall Aerospace and the Ministry of Defense.

"It is particularly pleasing that we have continued to deliver high levels of aircraft availability at a time when both the C-130 and VC10 have recently been involved in high-tempo operations."

The British air force's fleet of VC-10 tankers is powered by Conway engines. Under a contract extension, Rolls-Royce will provide technical support for the engines until next year, when the aircraft go out of service.
