CLEARWATER, Fla., May 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has ordered distress signaling equipment from Bulova Technologies Ordnance Systems LLC.

The company is a subsidiary of Bulova Technologies Group Inc.

Bulova said it will supply the Navy with its Distress Illumination Signal Kits and Hand Fired Distress Signals under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity contract. The contract is for five years and was given by the U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane Division.

The value of the award is more than $9.8 million.

"The receipt of this award adds to our substantial backlog, valued in excess of $100 million over the next 5 years, and adds a new product line to our manufacturing facility in Mayo, Fla.," said Stephen L. Gurba, president and chief executive officer of Bulova Technologies Ordnance Systems.

The company will make its first delivery of equipment to the Navy in November.

Information on the number of units in the initial delivery and other contract and product details weren't disclosed.
