MARIETTA, Ga., May 9 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin Tuesday formally delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force the 17th and last CC-130J Super Hercules ordered under a 2007 contract.
"The delivery of the final CC-130J Hercules to the RCAF represents a significant milestone in the history of the RCAF," said RCAF Lt. Col. Colin Keiver, Commanding Officer, 436 (T) Squadron. "The aircraft has already proven its worth around the world in places like Afghanistan and Libya, as well as here at home in Canada.
"Our partners at Lockheed Martin have delivered us an aircraft that more than lives up to the motto of 436 Squadron, Onus Portamus or 'We Carry the Load.'"
Under the 2007 contract, delivery of the planes was to be completed by the end of this year.
"Today recognizes another great chapter in Canadian airlift history and in the continuation and expansion of the long and strong relationships with our industrial partners in Canada," said George Shultz, Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager, C-130 Programs.
Lockheed said Canadian industry has garnered more than $350 million in industrial and regional benefits because of the CC-130J aircraft procurement and in-service support.
