Navy orders signal data converters

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 30 (UPI) -- Electronics manufacturer Orbit International Corp. has received a U.S. Navy follow-on order for signal data converters used with MK 45 Gun Mount systems.

The SDCs are a major configuration item in the gun system used on Aegis-equipped destroyers.

The new base contract from the Navy, given to Orbit International's Integrated Combat Systems Inc. subsidiary, is worth more than $5.7 million. The initial order under the contract is a task order valued at about $1 million. An additional award is expected soon.

Delivery of all SDC units will be completed by the end of next year, the company said.

"We greatly appreciate the continued trust shown by the U.S. Navy in our experienced team of engineers and logisticians," said Julie McDearman, ICS's director of Engineering and Logistics.

"The MK 110 SDC is the AEGIS Modernization Program's version of the MK 119 GCSC that ICS has been supplying to the U.S. Navy since 2001. This order demonstrates our continued partnership with the customer."
