The company reports it will supply a "significant number" of its Cerberus Mod 2 Diver Detection System sonars over the next five years. Atlas Elektronik UK will also provide long-term, in-service support for the systems in conjunction with a South Korean company.
The award came from LIG Nex1, a South Korean aerospace and defense company and subsidiary of the LG Corp.
"We are delighted with the award of this contract to provide an important security system for our South Korean customer," said James Young, head of the Atlas Elektronik UK Surface Ships Division.
"It reinforces our position as a class leader in the design, development and supply of high-performance Diver Detection Systems, which has been built on our heritage of advanced sonar processing and hardware design.
"Hopefully other potential customers will follow suit and select the Cerberus system for its superior performance and competitive price."
Atlas Elektronik is a joint venture company of ThyssenKrupp and EADS.
