Boeing seeks partners in Brazil contract bid

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil, April 17 (UPI) -- Boeing and other U.S. companies are searching for Brazilian partners in a bid for the country's F-X2 fighter jet program.

Boeing said it toured Minas Gerais state last month to assess local companies. With Boeing officials were representatives of General Electric, GKN Aerospace, Hamilton Sundstrand, Northrop Grumman, Parker Aerospace and Woodward.

"The industry surveys that Boeing is conducting in Brazil are valuable in forging long-term business relationships with companies that can help offer the right solutions to our customers -- both government and commercial," said Susan Colegrove, regional director of International Strategic Partnerships for Boeing Defense, Space and Security.

"Brazilian companies have demonstrated expertise in aerospace work, research and development, and a broad range of internal services that may support Boeing operations and our extended supply chain."

Boeing is bidding on the Brazilian F-X2 program and is offering its F-18 Super Hornet -- built to Brazilian air force specifications -- for the contract.
