FALLS CHURCH, Va., April 4 (UPI) -- CSC of Virginia has been chosen as a prime contractor to deliver streaming video from unmanned aerial systems to the U.S. Navy.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract award from the U.S. Navy Naval Air Systems Command is for five years and is worth a total of $874 million to CSC and two other contractors eligible for task orders.

"CSC has extensive experience delivering technology as a service," said Hal Smith, vice president of CSC's North American Public Sector ISR Group. "Delivery of video as a service is a natural extension of the CSC business model.

"We'll now apply this service delivery model to reliably and efficiently deliver intelligence on the battlefield."

Under the terms contract, CSC would deploy personnel and equipment to fly unmanned aerial vehicles and deliver streaming video from electro-optic and infrared cameras directly to military users in a remote theater of operations.

The company said the service will save the customer money since it won't have to deploy its own personnel and equipment and will only pay for the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance video hours delivered.

CSC recently acquired Centauri LLC, an integrator of UAS systems, and will leverage its expertise in providing the service. Other partners include Arcturas UAV, Sierra Nevada Corp. and Battlespace Flight Services.
