In 2012 TVSO in the Moscow Central Military District will repair more than 30 miles of access tracks servicing 23 stations and junctions and replace 35 railway sidings, the Press Service of the Central Military District reported.

Farther east, seven railroad lines stretching from the Volga River to Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia are scheduled for renovation, with tracks running through Kuibyshev, Gorky, Sverdlovsk, South Urals, West Siberia, Krasnoiarsk and the Far East.

The harshness of the Russian climate means that TSVO's maintenance is an ongoing task, with its 2012 planned maintenance activities representing a 600 percent increase in work over 2011.

TSVO's 2012 total repair work schedule is planned to utilize about 700 experts and involve more than 120 pieces of equipment.
