NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln will receive refueling complex overhaul services from Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia.
Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., parent company of NNS, said company work will involve planning, design, engineering, material procurement, pre-fabrication and shipboard inspections.
The value of the cost-plus-fixed fee, level-of-effort contract option is $383 million.
"RCOH work represents 35 percent of all maintenance and modernization that is performed on Nimitz-class aircraft carriers during their 50-year service life," said Ken Mahler, NNS vice president of Navy Programs.
"The complexity of this effort requires significant planning and preparation so that we achieve our commitment to successfully redeliver these ships to our Navy customer in a timely and cost-effective manner."
Work will be performed next February.
Additional details of the refueling complex overhaul weren't disclosed.
The USS Abraham Lincoln, built by Newport News Shipbuilding, is a Nimitz-class carrier and the fifth ship of the class to undergo the life-cycle overhaul.
