SAINT-NAZAIRE, France, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Renault Trucks Defense subsidiary ACMAT is supplying decontamination equipment for the French army's fleet of NBC trucks.
The trucks, variants of ACMAT's VLRA reconnaissance and support vehicle, are capable of cleaning as many as 15 armored vehicles contaminated by nuclear, biological or chemical matter within three hours.
The task is performed by spraying hot water, pressurized steam and dry steam and a decontaminate solution.
ACMAT is supplying 48 light decontamination units, replacing old systems and bringing the safety equipment aboard the trucks up to standard.
The trucks were manufactured by ACMAT and the order from DGA, the French defense procurement agency, was issued under an existing technical control contract worth more than $3.9 million.
Delivery of the decontamination units is already taking place and will continue through June. Upgrading of the vehicles is occurring at a military base which is the garrison of the army's NBC regiment.
