Helicopter simulator operates in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A full flight simulator for Eurocopter's Dauphin AS365 N3/N3+ helicopter has been installed by Thales in Singapore.

The simulator was developed by Thales in partnership with Eurocopter, which has headquarters in France, and features a Dauphin N3/N3+ reconfigurable cockpit, incorporating a flight model with rotor blade elements developed by Eurocopter on the basis of specific flight tests.

It will be used by Eurocopter customers in the region for training in such areas as search-and-rescue and medical evacuation.

Other features of the simulator, which uses Thales' new Reality H product, include a dome-mounted visual system on a six-axis motion system and a direct-projection visual system that provides an extended field of view combined with geospecific imagery.

The system's cockpit is reconfigurable, allowing for training on other Eurocopter aircraft, Thales said.

The simulator is installed at the Eurocopter South East Asia Training Center.

Thales made the announcement on the simulator's installation at the Singapore Air Show.
