MELBOURNE, Fla., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Two frequency-hopping waveforms to enhance the security of tactical communications have been introduced by the Harris Corp. in Florida.
Quicklook 3 and Quicklook-Wide are available on the company's Falcon III RF-7800V Combat Net Radio. Quicklook-3s frequency hopping rate is 10 times faster than traditional hopping rates, while Quicklook-Wide boosts five-fold 64 Kbps IP data throughput.
"Harris is focused on addressing both the current and emerging challenges of tactical communications around the world,'' said Brendan O'Connell, president, International Business, Harris RF Communications. "We collaborated with our customers to develop these new ECCM (electronic counter countermeasures) capabilities that deliver enhanced information assurance to the battlefield.
"These new solutions expand our portfolio to include data and hop rates never before seen in tactical handheld radios."
Harris' RF-7800V is a handheld radio system that weighs 2.4 pounds and covers the 30-108 MHz frequency range and allows for simultaneous voice and high-speed data transfer to multiple users.
