JERSEY CITY, N.J., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Data analytics solutions company Opera Solutions LLC announced that a former vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff is joining its advisory board.

As a member of the board, retired U.S. Marines Gen. James E. Cartwright would mainly work with the company's government solutions subsidiary, which specializes in services for national security, anti-terrorism and procurement enhancement solutions.

"It is a privilege to add General Cartwright to our distinguished roster of strategic advisers," said Opera Solutions Chairman Arnab Gupta. "His vision and ability to integrate systems, organizations, and people have sparked innovation in critical areas of U.S. national defense.

"We look forward to his advice on how best to apply our capabilities in Big Data management and cutting-edge predictive analytics in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our public sector clients."

Cartwright retired from the Marine Corps in August. Prior to his position on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he served as commander of the U.S. Strategic Command.

"It's no secret that Big Data analytics can provide important and meaningful mission-based support to military and government agencies," Cartwright said. "Opera Solutions is fast becoming a leader in this space. I am excited about the capabilities they can bring to the public sector, and look forward to counseling them on the best ways to make the most meaningful contributions."
